Dangerous
Game Safaris:
Kabra Safaris has offered dangerous game
hunting opportunities in Zimbabwe for over a decade with high
success and satisfaction rates. These classic safari hunting
packages are offered on the northern border region adjacent
the Zambezi River (Zambia Border) and in the heart of the Save
Valley, near the Mozambique border. Each area boasts huge game
populations that roam unobstructed as one would find in the
era of the great market hunters. The northern location (Chewore)
is the more remote of the two and offers outstanding opportunities
to hunt a concession that has been little altered by development.
The southern location (Mokore) is a central component of
the one million plus acre Save Valley Conservancy. Nearly
twenty years ago, this huge area was returned to a wild
and natural wilderness by combining numerous large ranch holdings
along banks of the Save River. Now it is wild Africa at
it’s
best.
|
Transportation:
Transportation
usually involves an international flight into Johannesburg,
South Africa, followed by a connecting flight to Harare where
the hunters are greeted by their professional hunter and
transported either by air charter or driven by land to the
camp of choice. |
Hunting:
The C hewore
camp is in one of the prime areas in Africa for hunting dangerous
game such as Elephant, Lion, Cape Buffalo and Leopard. The
Mokore camp is renowned for its large Leopards and has an abundance
of high quality plains and other dangerous game animals.
For dangerous game such as Elephant, Buffalo and Lion, calibers
of .375 or larger should be used. For soft skinned animals
like Leopard, any weapon in the 7mm or .300 range may be used.
Rifles are available for hire. |
Season:
In the southern
hemisphere, seasons are reversed; our winter is their summer,
their fall our spring etc. The prime hunting season falls
during the winter dry season, generally starting in May, lasting
into October. Daytime temperatures range from 65F to 85F until
you get into October when temperatures slowly increase along
with incoming rains to a range of 85F-105F over the summer
months. |
Species:
Trophy
quality animals include: Elephant, Lion, Cape Buffalo, Leopard,
Sable, Nyala Waterbuck, Eland, Kudu, Spotted Hyena, Chobi Bushbuck,
Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest, Bushpig, Warthog and many
many more. |

chalet with ensuite bathroom and two tents under thatch, also
with ensuite bathrooms. All bathrooms have hot and cold running
water and flush toilets. Kitchen, bar and braii are outside
under thatch. The Mokore camp is located on the banks
of the Turgwe River in the heart of the Save Valley Conservancy.
The camp boasts six luxury stone under thatch chalets with
ensuite bathrooms. The dining area is on a wooden deck that
offers stunning views of the river. |
Planning:
Any time
a hunter travels abroad there are numerous details that,
when put together, can needlessly spoil what should be a most
memorable endeavor. At no additional cost we can assist you
over the hurdles. For example, dangerous game hunts in these
areas require vaccinations, specific equipment and tips to
make the safari successful, safe and enjoyable. Too often the
traveling hunter has difficulty in the return of trophies.
As part of our service we assist in the coordination of this
process. |
In addition to Zimbabwe dangerous game safaris, Kabra Safaris
now makes Mozambique, and Namibia Safaris a reality. Please
contact us by phone or Internet and ask for detailed information,
references and more.
